India has the fifth-lowest global mobile data prices: Report

 

India has been ranked fifth on the Worldwide Mobile Data Pricing 2022 list amidst of the 5G mega spectrum auction. It is a part of a report that examined the price of 1 GB of mobile data across 233 nations. The list was created by Cable.co.uk, a price comparison website. Israel surprised everyone by being the least costly country on the list, with a price of $0.04 (approximately Rs. 3) per GB. The most costly is Saint Helena, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic Ocean, which costs $41.06 per night (roughly Rs. 3,500).

 

 

Costs for mobile data globally

Cable.co.uk conducted research on the cost of mobile data. India is one of the top five markets with the cheapest mobile data prices according to Cable.co.uk's compilation of the Worldwide Mobile Data Pricing 2022 list. It ranks fifth at a price of $0.17. (roughly Rs. 14). According to the survey, India's population depends heavily on mobile data, which has led to high demand and forced carriers to offer competitive prices. Regarding 5G technology, Israel continues to occupy the top spot in the world.

 

The five most costly nations for mobile data, according to the ranking, are Yemen, Tokelau, So Tome and Principe, the Falkland Islands, and Saint Helena. Two of the five are in the Sub-Saharan African region, while two of the five are island nations. Additionally, with an average cost of $4.47, this is the second most expensive of the 13 global regions (roughly Rs. 400).

 

The list also includes a few surprising facts about nations. US and UK are not at the top of the list. In the US, the average cost per gigabyte is $5.62, while in the UK, it is $0.79. The US is 202nd, with the UK coming in at position 78.

 

According to reports, the researchers have connected the cost disparity to four primary country archetypes: excellent infrastructure, heavy dependency, low consumption, and a wealthy economy.

 

The nations with the best infrastructure and those that rely on foreign aid are generally the least expensive. Conversely, the most expensive nations typically have poor infrastructure and low levels of consumption.
